Fishtail/Funny Face Friday!!!

It's Friday and I slept like a rock last night.  Therefore I'm in a great mood, even though I overslept and didn't have time to wash my hair.  But guess what?  My favorite braid of all time is the perfect way to cover up funky hair because the messy look seems to be completely on purpose. ;)  See what I mean?  So today is officially fishtail Friday.  Well it is for me anyway!

And keeping with the 'F' theme, Kollyns and I had a fun fish-tailed funny face Friday photo session.    Yeah, just showing off my alliteration skills and giving everyone a mini lesson on my favorite literary stylistic device. (wink wink) Can't let anyone forget my teaching degree that's stashed in a closet somewhere. :))

Fish tail, fish face.  Get it?  :)

Happy Friday everyone!  And if you're in the mood for a fishtail braid but you aren't sure how to fishtail, this post from forever ago has a link to a great little video that taught me how to fishtail braid in about 3 minutes!  :)  I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend!!!

Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake and a Busy Weekend!

We recently celebrated my mom's 49th birthday and it was such a sweet celebration of her life and a fun time spent with family.  I must say I've never seen 49 look this good and I can only hope I inherited her crazy good genes.
Ever since I discovered Mix & Match Mama's Bundt Cake Recipes I just can't get enough of them and I've officially become the go to 'birthday cake lady' in our family!  I have every intention of trying every single bundt cake on her list, so bring on the birthdays!!!  I'll just have to step up my cardio, but it's all good...these cakes are WORTH IT.  I made the chocolate chip bundt cake for mom's birthday and it was obviously a hit!  It turned out super pretty too! (Recipe Here).  And sprinkles are always a birthday staple!

We have been super busy moving out of our house!  I was so tired from this crazy weekend that I even took a 3 hour nap Sunday after church with Kollyns!  3 HOURS!  What the heck?  This whole process is so bittersweet, because it is our first home and I love it with all of my heart.  But at the same time we are ready to move on.  Every room is empty now except for the playroom, bedroom and kitchen!  Which leaves me feeling a tiny bit empty on the inside.  Wahhhh.

Our empty living room...

...and dining room. :(

But seriously, once my husband and I get our minds set on something we Get. It. Done. as you can see! ;)

While I packed up the bathroom, Kollyns found her way into my makeup.  And I let her play in it, because I can relate to the amount of fun she is having in my little sea of eye shadows.  She is so much like her mama!

And even with everything that was going on this weekend, we still found time to pick flowers and make a few wishes!  :)

Happy Tuesday!

Thursday's Thoughts

My mind has been in a million directions lately from having our home under contract, to figuring out what the next step is for our family.

This is my "Oh snap, what now?" face.  Although I was super excited to see the Sale Pending sign in my front yard.

We have picked out a home that we love that's for sale, but if that doesn't go through...we will be building a home.  Has anyone ever built a home?  If so, HELP!!!  I really don't know where to start and I am totally and completely overwhelmed.  From choosing land to choosing a house plan and figuring out exactly what I want on the inside and outside of my home, I'm mentally exhausted.  It's all super exciting, but nerve-racking at the same time.  We don't want a big home, but we do want around a 2000sqft top of the line house.  I will keep updating you on our journey, but for now we are just sifting through about 546789 house plans and trying to get our ideas in order!

I also found out this week that I can shop online at H&M!  My inner fashionista was back flipping when I heard this news.  This is not good since I'm taking a personal shopping hiatus for the next 6 months in the interest of saving money.  They do have kid's clothing though, so I will get my shopping fix via Kollyns' wardrobe.  While I'm on the topic of H&M...this is my favorite outfit from last week.  You might remember this lace top from H&M that I shared in a post several weeks back.  I paired it with skinny jeans and Toms last week for a completely different look.  Oh H&M, I love you so.

And yeah, about that saving money thing...Devin and I have really good jobs, and if we see something we want...we buy it.  But  I LOVE to save money...and in the past we have been able to save a lot and spend, which is such a blessing.  But since we will be buying a home that's quite a bit more expensive than our current home... we have decided to put our saving money tactics into overdrive.  We have both committed to this, and I'm so excited about it!  If anyone has great saving tips and tricks I would love to hear them so please do share! ;)  The grocery store is where we spend most of our money though, and if you haven't noticed my husband is like a real life version of the Hulk, so it will be quite the challenge for me to cut our grocery bill in half but I'm super ready to take it on.  Stay tuned.

And now for the sweet, beautiful part of this post.  Have I mentioned lately just how awesome our kid is?  She is.  She really is.  She makes life so much fun.

I'm so in love with her little pigtails, and these bows from Target make them that much cuter!

We went to the river on Sunday and she had the best time.  It was the first time she had ever held a fishing pole...and I'm certain it won't be the last!  She's our sassy little country girl.

Blessings & Bubbles

I feel like we will have an early fall this year in sweet home Appomattox.  Every morning when I step outside with FinLee & BroDee (our MaltiPoos) at 7am, the air is so crisp and cool.  I'm totally tempted on numerous occasions to just plop down in the grass and drink my coffee and soak up the beauty of early morning in my quiet neighborhood.  I don't know if I say it enough on here, because I simply can't say enough just how thankful I am for this life I'm living.  And the only way I can think to show my sweet readers just how thankful I am is to share a prayer that I find myself constantly praying.  It never gets old, because I can never say thank you enough to the One who deserves it the most.

Thank you so much Lord for loving me through the many ways I fail you and showing me mercy and grace.  Thank you for pouring an abundance of blessings over me that I don't come close to deserving.  Thank you for my husband, for our beautiful daughter and our health.  Thank you for our families and our sweet home, and jobs that take care of everything we need and then some.  Help me to honor You in every part of my life and bring Glory to You in every way.  Break my heart for what breaks yours, and reveal to me the areas you want me to serve and prepare my heart for where you are leading me.  I can never do enough or say enough and   I won't ever be able to give back all that You deserve, but I pray that I will always give back all that I can through fervently pursuing a deeper and more personal relationship with You every single day of my life.

Saturday morning Kollyns was up by 9am, which is unusual for her.  Normally she will sleep until 11am if I let her.  It was so beautiful outside so we headed straight to the back yard for some bubble fun.  There's just something about watching a kid play with bubbles and chase them while giggling and squealing that is just so purely sweet.  I find myself becoming a kid again with her and running through the yard having the time of my life.

It just doesn't get any better than this.
