Things I'm Loving

[A good burrito bowl]  Throw brown rice, black beans, corn, & red onion in a bowl...add some cilantro and lime juice and it's over the top good.  You could always add chicken or beef too! :) Yummy and easy.

[S'mores parties on the back deck]  I'm pretty sure I can hear the Hershey bars, graham crackers and marshmallows begging to be made into ooey gooey goodness when the cool fall weather rolls in.  And I love nothing more than grabbing a fuzzy blanket and heading out to the deck for some s'more making with my loves.

[Pumpkin spice coffee in a glass jar]  Everything tastes better in a jar.  It really does.  And since one of my favorite parts of the day is the early morning when I'm sipping my coffee in my quiet house...why not add a mason jar to make it even more perfect?  Notice my Halloween tree in the background.  Too early for October festiveness?  I think not.

['Just Because' flowers from my husband] Sweet little gestures like this mean the most.  AND they are in an orange vase which perfectly compliments my Halloween tree.  Thanks babe! :)

[AE Burgundy Jeggings, Riding Boots & a Jean Jacket]  This outfit is so comfy and I have a feeling these boots will be worn out before Winter.  They're that cute.

[Friday Night Football] Football games are a pretty big deal when you live in a small town like we do.  And this past weekend our high school team played my brother's high school team and his girlfriend is a cheerleader there!  Kollyns loved watching her aunt Maddy shake her 'pon pons' and now insists that she will one day be a 'cheerweader'. My high school team won by the way.  And I loved every second of it.  And it brought back a flood of memories from our high school days when my hot hubby was the hunky high school QB.  Hard to believe that was 8 short years ago. Yikes.

[Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood] How am I just finding out about this band? They are amazing. And this is my new fave song.  Kollyns and I dance like a couple of crazies when this comes on.  Turn this song on and try not to love it.  Impossible.  Told ya.

Orange Dreamsicle Krispies

It's no secret that Fall is my favorite season ever.  Fall scented candles, pumpkin spice coffee creamer, pumpkins, football, football food, boots, sweaters, Halloween, Thanksgiving.  The list just goes on and on.  What's not to love about fall?  It inspires me, and when the lazy days of summer end I go into major DIY, cooking, crafty Kelsey mode.

So here is recipe #1 of about 1000 to come this fall!

ORANGE DREAMSICLE KRISPIES
Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large pan over low heat.
Add 1 (10oz) package miniature marshmallows, stirring until melted.
Remove from heat.
Stir in 1 1/2 tbsp. Vanilla Extract.
Add 1/2 c. orange cake mix, blending well.

Stir in 4-5 cups rice krispies and 1 (12oz) package of white chocolate morsels until well coated.

Spread mixture into a lightly greased 9x13 pan.
Cool completely before cutting or icing.

If these aren't sweet enough and you think you want some frosting on top...
Stir together 3 cups of powdered sugar, 6 tbsp. softened butter, 5 tbsp. orange juice, 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract , 1/4 tsp. orange extract, and desired amount of orange or peach food coloring.

Next time, I won't bother with the frosting because these little babies are plenty sweet without it...but the choice is yours! :)

Happy 'almost' Fall y'all!

Anthem World Tour

I have been a complete Fanson since I was 11 years old.  And by Fanson I mean, the biggest Hanson fan ever.  For those of you that have been missing out for the past 15 years, this is the band that brought you the mega hit MMMBop circa 1997.  If the only song of theirs you know is MMMBop, you have been missing out on some amazing music for over a decade.  These are some talented dudes.  I know I'm partial because I've been fangirling since I was a tween, but I made my anti-Hanson husband a believer just by taking him to one concert.  They just kicked off their Anthem World Tour and when Raven (my almost sister) and I found out they would be coming to Richmond this September we FREAKED.  We knew it was a must-see and we made it happen.  It was the longest I've ever been away from my sweet Kollyns, and I missed her every second.  But as expected, Hanson didn't disappoint and I enjoyed the entire concert so so much.  Not to mention, Paul McDonald opened for them and he.was.AWESOME.  Too much talent in one place I tell ya!  It was well worth the $30 tickets. And seeing my husband throw his hands in the air and scream "I LOVE HANSON" was just priceless.  Shhhhh, don't tell him I told you (in his defense, he was considerably intoxicated...but it still made my life).  He will never admit to it.  But I have witnesses.  Check out Hanson's tour dates, and if they are coming to a city near you GO!  I promise you will love it!

And just to prove that they have come a long way since their MMMBop days, these are my favorite Hanson songs of all time!
